Although their comedic chemistry is undeniable, Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele‘s careers have gone in different directions.
Nearly a decade after their Comedy Central sketch comedy show Key & Peele ended, Key admitted that he and his former onscreen partner “don’t see each other that often anymore” amid their busy lives on opposite coasts.
“Which is, to me, a tragedy,” he told People, noting that “your lives start to evolve and move in different directions.”
After the duo first appeared together on Fox’s Mad TV in 2004, they landed their own self-titled show on Comedy Central, which ran for five seasons from 2012 to 2015. The series earned them an Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series in 2016.
Key and Peele also appeared together in 2016’s Keanu, which was co-written by Peele. Additionally, they’ve voiced characters together in Storks (2016), Toy Story 4 (2019) and Wendell & Wild (2022).

Dune: Part Two director Denis Villeneuve recently shared a positive update on Warner Bros.' plans for a third movie, confirming that the script for an adaptation of Dune: Messiah is officially in the works.
Though the filmmaker hasn't full committed to helming the project, we'd be very surprised if he didn't return to finish his take on this saga - although, if and when he does, he won't actually consider it a trilogy.
“First, it’s important that people understand that for me, it was really a diptych,” Villeneuve says of the first two movies during an interview with Vanity Fair. “It was really a pair of movies that will be the adaptation of the first book. That’s done and that’s finished. If I do a third one, which is in the writing process, it’s not like a trilogy. It’s strange to say that, but if I go back there,...

The weekend box office numbers have begun rolling in, and it looks like Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice held up much better than anyone (except us) expected in week two. According to Deadline, the popular sequel grossed $51.6 million this weekend, which is the second-best sophomore weekend for a fall movie since It back in 2017. Notably, the film only dipped 54% this weekend, a strong hold for a movie that opened north of $100 million.
With a $188 million domestic total, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice seems certain to end its domestic run with a $250 million-plus final gross. It is another winner for Warner Bros, who are having a good year. Wonka, Dune: Part Two, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire were all major worldwide hits, with only their underrated Furiosa and Horizon: Chapter 1 box office misfires for them this year. Although Dune: Part Two didn't reach $1 billion at the global box office as some had predicted (always a long shot in the current climate), it did pass $700 million worldwide, meaning a third film based on Frank Herbert's second novel, Dune: Messiah, always seemed likely.
Part Three still hasn't been officially greenllt by the studio, but director Denis Villeneuve has now shared a very positive update on Warner Bros.' plans for the final chapter.
While speaking to Variety at TIFF, the filmmaker confirmed that the script for Dune: Part Three is officially "in the works."

This is obviously a strong indication that Villeneuve intends to return to complete the trilogy, but he hasn't always sounded too certain about it.

Did someone say Beetlejuice’s name three times? Either way, the mischievous demon triumphantly returned to unleash his mayhem at the box office.
“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” the sequel to Tim Burton’s 1988 horror comedy about a pesky poltergeist, scored a huge $110 million from 4,575 theaters in its opening weekend. Those ticket sales rank as the second-biggest September debut of all time, ahead of 2019’s “It: Chapter 2” ($91 million debut) and behind only 2017’s “It” ($123 million debut). All three of those September record holders belong to Warner Bros. “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is also the year’s third best bow, coming in behind “Deadpool & Wolverine” ($211.4 million) and “Inside Out 2” ($154.2 million). The film delivered a needed jolt to the domestic box office, which was lagging after a hum-drum end to the summer season.
“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” also debuted internationally with $35.4 million, bringing its global tally to $145.4 million. It cost $100 million to produce.

There won’t be any worry of a slow start to the fall box office the way there was at the start of the summer season back in May, and that’s thanks to Warner Bros.’ “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” which is on its way to earning one of the strongest opening weekends of the year.
Carrying a $100 million production budget, Tim Burton’s sequel to his 1988 classic horror comedy looked on paper to have a modestly successful box office run several months ago, supported from its post-Labor Day release spot by nostalgic Gen Xers and elder Millennials and perhaps their teenage children.

Joker: Folie à Deux starts arriving in international theaters less than one month from today and Warner Bros. has just shared a new TV spot and poster for the highly anticipated sequel starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga.
The latter makes for a striking piece of imagery, though it's that new footage we need to talk about.
As you'll see, it features an appearance from classic Batman character Harvey Dent as he makes his feelings known about what a danger Arthur Fleck is to society. Harry Lawtey (Industry) is playing Dent, though it remains to be seen whether anything will happen here that leads to him becoming a grounded version of Two-Face.
There are also some teases for Joker: Folie à Deux's big musical numbers, though those are largely being kept under wraps.

Here's a tongue twister for your Thursday morning: Can you picture Pepper Potts in a ping pong picture? Because per Variety's reporting, Pepper Potts actor Gwyneth Paltrow is very soon to appear in a ping pong picture — namely, Josh Safdie's upcoming A24 joint Marty Supreme. In what will be her first big screen appearance since 2019's Avengers: Endgame, Paltrow is set to star alongside Timothée Chalamet in Safdie's solo directorial debut, which has been written by the Good Time co-director alongside regular Safdies collaborator Ronald Bronstein.
We still don't know as of yet who Paltrow — or Chalamet for that matter — will be playing in the movie just yet, though it would seem logical to assume the Wonka star might be taking on the title role in Safdie's sports movie. And whilst plot details are scarce at this stage for Marty Supreme, we do at least know — as per our...

“Alien: Romulus” emerged on top of the South Korean box office on a weekend with five new-release titles in the top ten chart.
The U.S. horror-thriller franchise film earned $3.47 million between Friday and Sunday, with a 28% market share, data from Kobis, the tracking service operated by the Korean Film Council (Kofic) showed. Over its full five-day opening “Alien Romulus” earned $5.46 million.

Incurring a 45% week-on-week loss of altitude, “Pilot” earned $2.73 million over the latest weekend, giving it a three-weekend cumulative of $26.7 million. That is the fourth highest total by any film In Korea so far this year and relegates “Wonka” to 2024’s fifth position.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel to director Tim Burton’s 1988 classic Beetlejuice (watch it Here), is set to reach theatres on September 6th – and Michael Keaton, who reprises the role of the Ghost with the Most named in the title, has told Total Film that he feels this sequel has a stronger story than its predecessor!
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was in development hell for decades before it finally got made. In 1990, Jonathan Gems was hired to write a sequel that was going to be titled Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian. Burton considered having Daniel Waters rewrite that script, Pamela Norris did rewrite it, and Warner Bros. offered Kevin Smith the chance to do another rewrite. He turned it down. Seth Grahame-Smith was hired to write and produce a new version of a sequel in 2011. Mike Vukadinovich was brought on to rewrite his script in 2017.

Biographical movies usually celebrate the great people of history. In contrast, one of Tim Burton’s movies highlights an obscure figure who wasn’t very good at making art. During an interview, the Batman director revealed that he was a huge fan of the movie in question even though it bombed. He also said he would be willing to live in that movie, alongside two of his other projects.
Tim Burton made a movie about movies in the weirdest way possible
Great directors like Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Federico Fellini, and Bob Fosse have all made movies about the glories of making movies. When Burton made his crack at that subgenre, he took a different approach. He decided to lionize Edward D. Wood, Jr., a B-movie maestro who is often considered the worst film director of all time. James Mangold’s Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown stars Timothée Chalamet, and will be arriving on Christmas Day in the US.
When it was revealed last month (alongside a trailer for the upcoming film) that James Mangold’s A Complete Unknown would be arriving in cinemas in 2024, a few eyebrows went up. The project began filming back in March (according to IMDb) and wrapped near the end of June.
Still, Mangold can be a quick worker when it comes to the post-production stage of filmmaking, depending on the film of course. Whilst Le Mans ’66 took a year to make it through the editing room, his other musical biopic – 2005’s Walk The Line – released in cinemas six months after entering the post-production phase and it looks like the filmmaker will be doing the same again here.

Boomerang, which specializes in classic cartoons from the libraries of Warner Bros. and Hanna-Barbera such as “Looney Tunes,” “Tom & Jerry,” “Scooby-Doo,” and many others has announced that it will shut down later this year. Levi was at the premiere of Harold and the Purple Crayon when Entertainment Tonight asked him about a Tangled remake. “Well, he’s getting every role these days, but I think Timothée Chalamet would be perfect for Flynn,” Levi said. At 43, Levi figures he’s too old now. “I don’t know all the young actors, but Timothée seems like he could nail Flynn’s swagger.”
Chalamet, known for Call Me By Your Name and Dune, showed off his singing skills in Wonka recently. His upcoming role as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown shows how versatile he is. That makes him a good fit for charming, charismatic Flynn Rider, in my opinion.

Timothée Chalamet channels Bob Dylan in the first trailer for James Mangold’s upcoming biopic A Complete Unknown.
The Dune actor takes on the role of the iconic folk singer-songwriter, who became a counter-culture force in the 1960s. Chalamet has also said he does his own singing for the role — just like his Dune Part 2 co-star Austin Butler did for his role in Elvis — building on his musical work following his performance in Wonka.
Here’s a first look at the Searchlight Pictures film, which includes Chalamet performing Dylan’s classic “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” amid shots of the singer’s life and career.
The official description: “Set in the influential New York music scene of the early 1960s, follows 19-year-old Minnesota musician Bob Dylan’s meteoric rise as a folk singer to concert halls and the top of the charts — his songs and mystique becoming a worldwide...

Emma Corrin is teasing their new role in the Deadpool & Wolverine film, where they star opposite Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
Corrin plays Cassandra Nova, Dr. Charles Xavier’s villainous twin sister, in the new Marvel Studios film. For the role, they drew inspiration from characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Inglourious Basterds.
“I drew inspiration from Christoph Waltz in Inglourious Basterds, which was Ryan’s reference when we started,” Corrin told People in an interview referring to Christopher Waltz’s character in the Quentin Tarantino film.
Corrin added, “And then not a villain, but I was really inspired by Gene Wilder’s Willy Wonka. Sort of a nonchalant, detached power.”
In a previous interview, Corrin said they wanted to pay homage to the actors who have previously played Charles Xavier, such as Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy.
“I did look back at those two performances,” they told Screen Rant.

However, on a recent note, despite Timothée Chalamet pouring his love for the reality TV star Kylie Jenner, insiders claimed that the Dune star has been allegedly keeping his distance from the Kardashian-Jenner clan. It has been reported that the 28-year-old heartthrob isn’t even trying to know Jenner’s family, which the Kardashians are considering a red flag.

Exclusive: Netflix’s plan to cook up a Willy Wonka reality competition series has moved to the next part of the factory.
Deadline understands that Fremantle-owned Eureka Productions has won the right to produce the show after a bake-off process.
The process has been taking place over the last few months with Eureka beating out a number of other production companies including Wall to Wall, the British production company behind Who Do You Think You Are?, Nobody’s Hero, the production company behind Netflix’s Bullsh*t: The Game Show, and The Garden, which was one of the companies behind Squid Game: The Challenge. It also beat out American Idol producer Fremantle, which was in the running for a separate bid to make the show out of its U.S. unscripted production arm.
As one source told Deadline it came down to “which pitch do we like the most?”.

Everyone wants Glen Powell to be a movie star – him included. But are we all putting too many eggs in one basket?
How many “the next movie star” pieces have you read about Glen Powell?
At first glance, the idea that a good-looking, charismatic actor would attract something of a media frenzy would have been a no-brainer. But after 20 years without a new, chiselled face emerging from the Hollywood machine, you can forgive the film journalism industry for getting a little excited. “The death of the movie star” is a phenomenon many have blamed for the decline of the original blockbuster. If we’ve finally found one – whether it’s Powell or the two or three others making their way into the spotlight this year – maybe we can get movies like the original Twister again, rather than one expanding the same franchise. Big Storm, perhaps, or Bloody Hell, That’s A Lot Of Wind.
