== Origins ==
Antigua received a large number of slaves from several African countries: Most of them were from [[Nigeria]] ([[Igbo people|Igbo]], [[Yoruba people|Yoruba]]. Reached more than 22,000 slaves in the [[Bight of Biafra]] to Antigua) and [[Ghana]] ([[Ashanti people|Ashanti]] and [[Fante people|Fante]] -whose descendants are the [[Kromanti]]-, came to Antigua over 16,000), but less so also exported slaves groups of [[Senegambia]], [[Guinea]], [[Sierra Leone]] (over 4,000 came to Antigua), [[Windward Coast]], [[Bight of Benin]] and [[Congo]] ([[Kongo people|Kongo]]).
