Welcome to my Talk Page!
  • I normally will respond on your own talk page, not here. I don't want to deprive you of the pleasure of watching a beautiful orange bar cheering your sight up :)
  • I usually archive discussions when this page exceeds 40 topics. Of course, at some moments of lazyness, this page may contain way more than that. But please, don't panic - I'm too good at that without your help!
  • Needless to say, I have one golden rule I like to be observed at my Talk page: be nice, be nice, and after that, be nice. If after reading this, you still feel the urge to squeeze my neck for any reason, please visit this page, take a deep breath, and come back - I'll be waiting here! :)
  • You may of course post here regarding admin-related matters or requests for administrative help. Such messages have my absolute priority when replying. In extremely urgent cases, you may also wish to email me here. I'll address your concerns as fast as my human capacities permit.
  • Sometimes it may take me long to reply to you, but I invariably will try. If a few days pass without reply, please forgive me - I'll get back to you as soon as I possibly can, I swear!
Current state of mind is...

!

Oh my! Thank you so much, Phaedriel! Unfortunately we did not have much interaction before you took your break (and had your beautiful daughter!) but I have heard so many lovely things about you from Kyoko and Riana, and I see you around Spring's talkpage all the time. I would be honoured if in the future I could get to know you better; I can't think of a nicer, kinder person out there :)

Give your daughter a hug and kiss on the cheek for me, and I'm sending a hug to you too! Thank you again, you certainly cheered up my day    ^_^    — Editor at Large(speak) 15:50, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Argh, I did it again. I had a very long flowery message all written up for you, and then I guess I must have not saved it - and lost it when my browser crashed a few days ago. I am so terrible for that... well. A message is (again) in the works, never fear; I haven't forgotten you! Editor at Large(speak) 04:46, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A Penny for your Thoughts

This should be fair enough, eh? •Felix• T 12:42, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again Phaedriel, hope you are doing well. I would like to request your opinion on a quick, simple matter. On Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals I put up a discussion about making a Wikiproject Capitals. I've had some comments suggesting a taskforce of Wikiproject Cities. However, I want some more comments from skilled Wikipedians to decide upon a Wikiproject, Task Force or just nothing. Cheers! •Felix• T 14:43, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Katefan0

In remembrance of events a year ago this week, you might be interested in signing this, if you haven't already done so. TML 16:33, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is hard to believe it has been a year. I keep expecting to see her on my watchlist. KillerChihuahua?!? 22:11, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Sharon, I just wanted to say what a touching gesture it is that you put Katefan0 on your userpage. I don't know the whole story, but I think I know enough. It's sad to see how someone can be chased away from Wikipedia like that. I hope she's doing well, wherever she is. For that matter, I hope that things get better for you too. Love, Kyoko 00:50, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I couldn't ask her to come back, but how I miss her! Along with SlimVirgin and Jkelly, she played a huge role in making a horrific experience tolerable. Musical Linguist 16:28, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply, Sharon. Actually, I have kept in touch with Kate (though not as much as I should have) and sent her a long message yesterday. When you have friends of that quality, you don't throw them away just because they're not editing Wikipedia anymore. It's just occurred to me that it might seem tactless to come to one user's talk page to say how wonderful another user was! But I'm sure you know that you were very much missed as well, and that I was thrilled to suddenly see your name appear on my watchlist again. Hope all is well with you! Musical Linguist 22:24, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help!

I'd like you to please see this. I'm not exactly sure what this guy's issue is, and I most likely didn't respond to it properly, but I think this could use the help of a loving person to set this straight. I'm not going to lie when I say that this person didn't give me the warm fuzzies when I first encountered them, then they leave me a weird message like this. What to do? Wikidan829 17:33, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My page!

Phaedriel, I will never be able to thank you enough for my new user page! Hooray! I woke up this morning, turn on my computer checked my talk page kind of groggy, went to get my breakfast and halfway through my breakfast I thought, "Did my talk page have a new header?" So, being my desk also doubles as my dining room table i checked it out! It is better than I could have imagined. Thank you for your hard work. I would give you an awary but you already have plenty! Hey Phaedriel

Hello again, I'm still thinking about whether to leave, but the ArbCom has not make the decision on the cases, which will determine if I still have faith on Wikipedia's fairness. So I'm waiting.

A Wikipedia Question

Hey, I have noticed in the past couple days in a row, that on history pages and my watchlist, I will see a "Due to high database server lag, changes newer than 30 seconds may not be shown in this list" tag. This is new and I was wondering if it was something that happens during the summer months or if perhaps Wikipedia might have finally outgrew it's server. Just wondering. Take Care....NeutralHomer T:C 22:55, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Now the "Wikipedia doesn't have a page for so-and-so" I have seen many a time (normally it is when I am creating new pages...but this one was new. But, as long as the software and servers don't crash and all of Wikipedia disappears, which was my main worry, I am happy. I would hate to have to redo all those articles again.
Also, ever noticed how hard it is to write a message with a cat's tail swishing back and forth on your keyboard....and the cat the tail is attached to is directly in front of the monitor? I think he is trying to tell me something. :) Take Care....NeutralHomer T:C 18:59, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why was the picture deleted?

Hello Sharon K., I followed the instructions very carefully while adding the picture to the "Sadiq Ali" article. Please let me know why you deleted it. Please email me at onestopx@shaw.ca if you want confirmation that it's a genuine picture and that there are no copyright issues. Thankyou and have a great day.--Kangan 00:26, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Because the image was licensed to Wikipedia only. If a image is granted a "free license" it must be used by others than Wikipedia; if that is not the case, we cannot use the image. Frankly, I would suggest to not upload the image again since Phaedriel's deletion is the third deletion of this image for one reason or another. Hey Phaedriel!

Thank you very much for the day! Sceptre informed me of this neat honor. I'm not even sure what I can say, Phaedriel, except thank you. I'm pretty sure I'm not like the wise person described in the poem, but it's quite nice that you would say so. The little Asian girl looks just like me! ;) (Well, ok, not so much. But she's adorable). Again, thank you very much for your kindness. Best wishes and happy editing, Firsfron of Ronchester 03:05, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch Arnon! I'm kind of not surprised he came back again. His usage of multiple accounts to play the "good" and "bad" guy is a classic example of sockpuppetry. However, I'm not convinced he is going to change, or that he isn't going to come back under another account. Can we stop him from creating accounts altogether? "Being indian"

Please clean this up so that it isn't just a rant attacking Christians, Whites, and the US government. Wikipedia is not a soapbox. Statements like "It is having a Christian missionary tell you it is wrong to believe in more than one Divine Being, then listen to him tell you about God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Ghost, the Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, St. Patrick, St. Christopher, St. Francis, etc." and "It is feeling the stares of all the whites in any public place you walk into." are inappropriate. Thank you.--70.243.82.59 20:23, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm truly sorry you dislike the contents of that section at my userpage. However, I have serious counter objections to your statement. First it, is not a "rant" against anyone; in that case, many points of it allude to certain negative aspects of Native American themselves which you conveniently ignored in your message above. Those points mention certain negative and regrettable, specific attitudes of American society as a whole, including Native Americans, observed from the perspective of an individual. Unlike you, I have felt the disapproving stares of certain white individuals while I walk into an exclusive store, or the lobby of a five-star hotel. I still do. And I have been dubbed a traitoress by other close minded native american people because I joined the "whites'" way of life. And most definitely I have been, and continue to mocked and called "Pocahontas" by some who believe it's funny. That section is no soapboxing in any way whatsoever. It is but a collection of personal thoughts and experiences of the dark, and often hidden aspects of White and Native American hypocrisy, that make many of us live in a constant identity crisis.
I truly am struggling to assume good faith on your part, I really am, so I'll hold myself from making comments on the fact that you removed that section from my userpage without even bothering to approach me, and only did so when reverted and suggested to do so; nor that you chose to post anonymously when you obviously are well versed in our policies. So I'll just limit myself to say that my attitude towards every fellow editor, and every human being in general are extremely far from any form of racism, and I try hard everyday to make them speak for myself. And if you mistake simple everyday experiences that make me sad for soapboxing, then it's because you simply don't know me. Regards, Phaedriel - 20:51, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, if I might add some more to this discussion? Sharon, you can remove this message if you feel it is inappropriate. I have some passing familiarity with how Native Americans were treated in the US, thanks to both documentaries and travels throughout the country. The injustices listed in the list on Phaedriel's page really did occur. Under both Spanish and American rule, many Native Americans were forced to convert to Christianity, or at the very least, no longer allowed to practice their religion. Furthermore, many were not allowed to speak their native language. Many Native Americans were forced to relocate to reservations as well. Unfortunately similar injustices also took place in Canada. --Kyoko 21:13, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The anon user who removed Sharon's page is either a vandal or some boring folk. Warn him not to vandalize other people's user pages and instead do some constructive edit. By the way Sharon, did yo u see my award message? WooyiTalk to me? 22:27, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what's more sad... the fact that this came up this way, or the fact that everything on that essay is true. In fact, it's very clear which is more sad. Until we as a culture serve tribes (who are, after all, PEOPLE) better we have failed. That's the sad one. Phaedriel, I'm sorry you had to be sujected to this on your userpage. Hi Sharon, I just got your e-mail. I'll reply when I can, hopefully sometime tomorrow, Tuesday by the latest (I might take a daytrip on Memorial Day). By the way, I hope you don't mind my removal of this message from your talk page. While you were away, User:Acalamari and User:Natalie Erin had problems with someone who was leaving messages on their talk pages saying that they were romantically involved, and the vandal also spent a lot of time creating inappropriately named accounts to that effect. I was concerned that this might be the same person. Love, Kyoko 23:30, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I knew it.

I knew this would happen. For your information, that user should be blocked indefinitely, as it's the same user as "Back to the Noble Ocean". This user also seems to create user names about "going down", and also about boating. Acalamari 23:28, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry, dear Kyoko and Acalamari - I indef blocked him, and I'll keep an eye on him. I took it with humour at first, but a deeper analysis of his pattern of disruption after your heads up, Kyoko, toof all the possible fun of it away. Dear A, if he drops by your talk pae, let me know and I'll take care of him. Love guys! Phaedriel - 23:34, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I've watchlisted your user and talk page too. Acalamari 23:35, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. I've just automagically customised your Awesome Wikipedian notice, to make it easier for you to post on the talk pages of the recipients. For example:

{{subst:User:Phaedriel/Today|name=Jimbo Wales|nickname=Jimmy}}

will yield:

Happy Jimmy's Day!

Jimbo Wales has been identified as an Awesome Wikipedian,
and therefore, I've officially declared today as Jimmy's day!
For being such a beautiful person and great Wikipedian,
enjoy being the Star of the day, dear Jimmy!

poem by C. Brontë about A. Brontë's death

Hi Sharon, I noticed your tribute to Anne Brontë, and I thought I would bring this poem to your attention. It's by Anne's sister Charlotte. It is a very mournful poem. --Kyoko 17:25, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On the Death of Anne Brontë

There's little joy in life for me,
And little terror in the grave;
I've lived the parting hour to see
Of one I would have died to save.

Calmly to watch the falling breath,
Wishing each sigh might be the last;
Longing to see the shade of death
O'er those beloved features cast.

The cloud, the stillness that must part
The darling of my life from me;
And then to thank God from my heart,
To thank Him well and fervently;

Although I knew that we had lost
The hope and glory of our life;
And now, benighted, tempest-tossed,
Must bear alone the weary strife.

Hi. I oppose the full protection of Msnbc.com. The "vandalism" that the two users were reverting wasn't vandalism. It was a good faith edit by a new user for which MOS style complaints (mentioned on the user's talk page) aren't a valid reason for editing and "getting an article good before posting" (paraphrase of comment on talk page as well) isn't anything like Wikipedia. While I agree the article needed work, references, and MOS and other improvements, the "edit war" could have been much better resolved by the "experienced" users talking to the user on the talk page or on their user page rather than protection and reverting with little (and harsh) comments. I left a note on one of the two's talk page about WP:BITE. Could you please unprotect the page (I realize it's only a day, but I don't think it should have been done at all) and restore the article that was there? Thank you for your time. Fantastic userpage

Good morning! What a wonderful, pleasant surprise when I logged in and saw the new page! It's great. Your choice of colors is beautiful...not what I had mentioned, but better! You're the best, Phaedriel! AKRadecki 13:59, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you...

... for the kind and sweet words. You must have a shaman soul, as your comment would not have come in a better time for me. As if you knew I needed it. Thank you again. ≈ jossi ≈ (talk) 15:28, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About the Brontës

Dear Sharon (or do you prefer Phaedriel on-wiki? I forget), I'm glad that you appreciated the poem. Your message reminded me of a documentary I once saw on TV about the Brontës. I think it was on the History Channel. I don't remember much from the show, but among other things, it discussed how one sibling's difficulties would be reflected in the writings of another. I wish I could remember more of what was said. I have to confess my ignorance of Anne's novels; I know they exist, but I just haven't read them. --Kyoko 15:36, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Phaedriel

Dearest Phaedriel. Thank you so, so, so much! You have made my day! I really appreciate it! Once again, thank you! You really are a wonderful person and please, if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. You are glorious! Lots of love! xxx ˉˉDuranDuran╦╩ 15:41, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think I'm giving you too many awards...

The Special Barnstar
For your tireless and beautiful redesigns of userpages, you deserve this :) Will (We're flying the flag all over the world) 16:30, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's okay.

It's okay Phaedriel, I'm not worrying about him. :) He will just get blocked by the administrators who watch my user and talk pages. In the end, he will just get fed up and do something else. He will just be blocked on sight (well, unless it's me who notices him trolling again; I can't block him). As for dropping something by my mailbox, I assume you mean E-mail but I may be wrong; I'll wait and see what you send. :) Acalamari 16:50, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Got your mail!

Dear Phaedriel, I got your mail and I will reply when I can. I'm still trying to figure out what my next big project will be. I got a bit tired dealing with The Lais of Marie de France. I might end up working on the Roman de la Rose after all, though it will take a bit of work. I've never read the whole thing before, so that has to be done first. If you look at the article, you can see that I've done a little bit on it, not much so far. For bigger projects where most of the work is from scratch, I tend to compose my text offline. Love, Kyoko 17:13, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the lovely note!

I had just returned from a brisk walk through the hills around Hollywood when I saw I had a message here. There's an interesting weather phenomenon in LA this time of year called June gloom. As I read your note, the gray clouds burned away and the sun started to shine through. Quite a coincidence. The world is a lovely place for those who allow it to be! Thanks again for the poem, and if you feel like giving my User page a facelift, you are welcome to! Just keep the notice at the top that it's a user page, and no pink or orange, please! Only if you are in the mood, too. I'd rather see you spreading more wikilove! Jokestress 17:40, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Southern Cherokee Nation

Guy Chapman suggested I ask you to review the materials relative to the Southern Cherokee Nation dispute to determine of non-Federally recognized tribes should be included in the article on Cherokee. I think my views on the matter are well known. Another opinion and review of the materials would be helpful. Jeffrey Vernon Merkey 17:43, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I stand slack-jawed. An openly disruptive, malicious individual like JVM is indulged and cossetted, I get obscenities screeched at me. Business as usual Ben-w 18:47, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm sorry, but JVM's list of offenses is a mile long and it takes only a cursory glance at them to realize that unblocking him was an extremely foolish move. The consensus on the talk page certainly did not look like it supported unblocking him. He has been extremely disruptive, tried to make up fake policies about "financial contributors", and created a firestorm of controversy everywhere he goes, sapping the time and effort of contributors which could be far better spent elsewhere. The consensus was almost universal that maintaining the indefinite block on him was the right thing to do, but, instead, we roll over and give him a one-more-final-twentieth-positively-last-chance which he has done absolutely nothing to earn. For pointing this out, I get told to "fuck off" and we all waste more time and energy on this malignant troll. It's ridiculous. It's absurd. A sane, clear-eyed look at the evidence reveals exactly what sort of individual JVM is and why unblocking him was an absolutely indefensible decision. Ben-w 19:07, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
