supersaturation (countable and uncountable, plural supersaturations)

  1. (physics) The condition of a solution being more highly concentrated than is normally possible.
  2. (physics) the condition of a vapour having a higher saturation vapour pressure than is normally possible.
  3. (physiology) The condition of a solution of gases in a tissue having a higher concentration in terms of sum of partial pressures than the ambient pressure.
