Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I am not a big fan of "smoothing" the image. Even less so when the source is of good quality.

Describe the solution you'd like
A profile like mode A (HQ) but keeping the sharpness, but without the "smoothing" of the image.

Describe alternatives you've considered
I tried creating a new profile, mixing the different shaders, but it didn't work.

Additional context
In Nyaa there are groups that make encodes that look sharper than the original sources (without "smoothing" the image), it would be great to do the same in real time for each anime, without depending on whether someone else does it or not.

Shouldn't what you're after be Mode C then since it doesn't include the restore shader? Maybe it's not as sharp but it might be if you increase the last shader in the profile from M to L or VL?

Well I tried it, it's true that it's not as sharp as Mode A, but I didn't notice any difference between Mode C with M vs L vs VL, and it still smoothens the image a little bit

Well that would be the denoising which honestly shouldn't affect it too much but if you remove that then you might as well use another set of shaders like ArtCNN or CuNNy since they are generally better if all you want is sharp upscaling without changing the image too much.

Thanks for the recommendations. I've tried them and I've noticed some difference with CuNNy, but very little. So for what it does, I'll continue using anime4k.

I'm not sure what you mean by “smooth," but have you tried each shader individually? Using only the Restore shader should only affect the sharpness.

Also, might be counterintuitive, but have you tried changing your Monitor/TV sharpness settings?

With "smooth" I mean that little details like textures, become less nitid and more diffuse.

I haven't tried it (I think). I'll try it when I have time, thanks.

And about the Monitor/TV sharpness.... that's criminal, no thanks :)
