Background information[]
- Though first published more than three years after the release of Star Trek, the book does not acknowledge any events or use any photos from the Kelvin timeline, though a few facts presumed to be true in both universes are included. (i.e. The Vulcan and Romulan languages being nearly indistinguishable, and Romulan's three spoken dialects, pg. 61.)
- A photo of Lansor and P'Chan from VOY: "Survival Instinct" on pg. 88 is mistakenly identified as drones being sent into Unimatrix Zero.
- Apart from the 2016 Australian version, the book has also seen at least three translated international editions to wit, the German version Star Trek - Die visuelle Enzyklopädie: Die ganze Welt von Raumschiff Enterprise, the by Simón Saitó in Spanish translated version Star Trek: Diccionario visual - GuÃa definitiva de los personajes, las razas y la tecnologÃa, and the French version Star Trek: L'encyclopédie illustrée, released in April, October, and November 2013 respectively. The Spanish and French editions were licensed to local publishers.
- All versions were issued as hardcovers (without dustjacket), measuring 26.0×1.4×30.9 cm.
