It seems to friends Pete, Nancy, and Randy that many of their peers are already going steady. Despite not feeling ready the three tentatively begin to explore "dating."
Randy's grandfather Tug comes for a visit which soon leads to arguments between Tug and his son Warren. Randy enlists the help of his best friends Pete and Nancy in bringing harmony to his family.
Randy is falling behind in his homework. His friends Pete and Nancy help him out but then Randy begins to expect them to keep assisting him into turning in his homework.
When Pete becomes very sick and hospitalized his pals become very worried. During his illness Nancy and Randy learn the true value of a close friendship as they hope for his recovery.
