I have learned when it comes to the performance concerns of the staff it starts with setting up clear performance objectives that can be measured so that there are no surprises when it comes to staff expectations. Proper and continuing education and training allows that to become the norm. There is a need to take down walls and that is why collaboration is also important to help one overcome obstacles. Overall assessment along with award and complimentary statements help in enhancing performance. In some situations, there is a need for making formal corrective action plans with set timelines. Maintaining a positive working atmosphere also enhances the morale of the employees and improvement in performance.

Unlike other industries, Healthcare is very sensitive, where mistakes can mean life or death. To address staff performance issues, identify root causes and provide specific, constructive feedback in private. Set clear expectations with SMART goals according to healthcare setup, and offer support like training or mentorship. Develop a collaborative action plan, monitor progress with regular check-ins, and adjust as needed. If issues persist, follow formal disciplinary procedures while recognizing and encouraging improvements. By taking these steps, we ensure the highest standards of care and the well-being of both our patients and staff.
