merge ?

[edit]

Orthotics#Foot orthotics links to Shoe insert. Isn't Orthopaedic footwear a better fit. ouch. Merge pages & go with 2nd title? Romanfall (talk) 19:05, 13 June 2011 (UTC) I think some merge is needed, this article, Arch support, perhaps a new article Foot orthoses. - - MrBill3 (talk) 16:16, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Shoe inserts or "Insoles" can either be an over the counter or a custom made insert. The come in many forms; however, the two most popular styles are cushion insoles and orthotic arch supports. Tyler McCracken (talk) 20:28, 3 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Orthotic insoles are needed when there are, for example, small flatfoot - for correction. User:seagate85 (talk) 23:34, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

More detailed discussion of criticism, controversy, and claims of pseudoscience needed

[edit]

Given that this subject is brought up in one of the lead paragraphs, I'd expect it to be further expounded upon in the body of the article, perhaps in a "Criticism" section common to many debated medical topics. A single paragraph that barely gives any detail about which claims by orthotists are subject to critique from researchers, as well as what those researchers actually say (i.e.: quotes, findings, etc.) about those claims, is insufficient to convey to readers the scope of the controversy surrounding orthotic insoles and its nature.
