Versions

[edit]

The number of different versions is very confusing. For Windows, there are SDL, FLTK, and plain versions. What are these? -69.87.202.139 01:48, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll have to do some digging to get specifics, but those refer to different GUI tools used for the interface. For example, Linux contains an "ascii" version, which uses colored ASCII characters as low-res "pixels"; there's the SVGA version, which uses the low level SVGA drivers for non-X graphics under Linux; there's the framebuffer version, which, if it's anything like the AIX virtual fram buffer, is an off-screen graphics context (I use it at work for rendering X fonts which are then saved as a raster image); and there's the SDL version for Linux, which I'm guessing (since there's a Windows SDL version) is a platform independent GUI toolkit. I'll see what specifics I can find out and put them in the article. scot 14:40, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Let me know if the changes don't answer all your questions. scot 15:23, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Other Language with the same name

[edit]

Should this article somehow link to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_Basic ? Not sure of the right way to do it 87.194.239.55 (talk) 01:17, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The link is there now. See "This article is about the GPL programming language. For the Microsoft programming language, see Microsoft Small Basic." Guy Macon 14:42, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The "Small Basic" in this article was created by Nicholas Christopoulos around 2000 (http://wired_gr.users.sourceforge.net/). There was a command line interpreter sbrgrx.exe and a GUI based on synedit having the interpreter incorporated; for graphics sbrgrx worked with the graphics card while the GUI variant used a windows tab, as the current versions. For me, apart the use on small machines, it has the merit of porting to Windows old QBasic code. Old web pages disappeared. Dciurchea (talk) 18:51, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The discussion about whether to delete this page is Here. Guy Macon 15:04, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The result was "keep". Now I would like to ask for some help. I personally don't use SmallBASIC, so I really need some of you who do to jump in and improve the page. Don't worry if you have no experience editing Wikipedia; any mistakes can be fixed by anyone with one mouse click. We especially need more references/citations to reliable sources. Thanks!
