I intend to flesh out this article over the next 6 months, and I encourage other users to help me with any data of their own.

Just a note to say that this article should be about Comic Relief itself, not about the subject matter they deal with. Paragraphs on the causes of homelessness and such are good for public education campaigns and fundraising flyers, but they are not appropriate for an encyclopedia article about the organization. Advice requested:

[edit]
  1. Thank you, "WhatamIdoing", for your telling me that statistics on homelessness itself belongs in a separate article (some already exist) from one about a charity for helping the homeless. One thing, though: What about the "Description/Highlights" column of the table in the "Chronology of events" section? There I include for each event a summary of major comedians with brief mention of some of the subjects of their standup/sketch segments, although I largely avoid quoting specific jokes. Is that too much info? I think, given that it's Comic Relief--which raises money for its charity work specifically by doing comedy, people should have at least a general notion of what actually goes on at the televised events. Should I just list the major comics, or is it ok to obliquely touch on the comedic content? (By the way, the reason the info content for "Comic Relief 2006" is disproportionately--and perhaps excessively--longer is that I got the info for the right column from the "Comic Relief: The Greatest...And The Latest" DVDs--which, as described in the table, provide a lot more highlights from that one event than all the others.) PLEASE BE COURTEOUS AND GIVE ME FEEDBACK ON THE TALK PAGE BEFORE MAKING MAJOR CHANGES TO THE SECTION; I WANT THE CHANCE TO MAKE ANY RECOMMENDED CHANGES MYSELF! — Preceding unsigned comment added by RobertGustafson (talkcontribs) 22:14, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  2. Can anybody figure out when "Comic Relief WILD" was or is to be held? Is it a past or future event? The Comic Relief website (remember, it's comicrelief.org, not comicrelief.com) is vague about it, and I sense that not all of its info pieces are contemporaneous with each other. (I am not able to "Google" much info on the specific event outside of the website.)

Old vs. New

[edit]

The article says it is about the old Comic Relief charity, and not the current one (which also took over the comicrelief.org domain), but mentions Red Nose Day, which is part of the new organization... Doconeill (talk) 01:17, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The entire _Old vs New_ is terribly confusing: there should be more here about it. It doesn't help that the new charity Comic Relief Inc. is being used for references. I'm also having problems finding any documentation about Comic Relief having suspended operations - one article suggested 2006, but this page details several events afterwards. Comic Relief USA vs Comic Relief Inc (Old vs New)

[edit]

Hi,

The current charity Comic Relief, Inc. also goes by "Comic Relief USA." See their official website here.

The defunct Bob Zmuda Comic Relief never called itself "Comic Relief USA" to my knowledge. It seems this title was created to disambiguate it from the UK organization Comic Relief.

To avoid ongoing confusion, I'm proposing this page change its title to "Comic Relief (former American Charity)" – and have "Comic Relief USA" redirect to Comic Relief Inc.

Disclosure: I work at Comic Relief Inc

Shouldn't there be an explanation for why they don't do comic relief anymore ? I assume Robin's was one of the factors Jppiper (talk) 22:24, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
