Social running

[edit]

The various "Disciplines" listed under this template all seem to relate to seriously competitive and regulated sports.

However, there's also another category, namely social running, which is not particularly competitive; rather, runners engage in it both for its exercise benefits and for social interaction. The main (somewhat) organised form of this that comes to mind is hash running – see Hash House Harriers for some info on this. Another form of social running is when two or more friends run together, either regularly or ad hoc, to help with motivation and support their efforts to exercise for maintaining fitness. Should there be an entry in this template to cover social running?

Come to think of it, there's also running done alone as an individual form of exercise - antisocial running? ;-) But seriously, it seems that "Running" falls in the category "Athletics" - but shouldn't it also be dealt with under the category of "Exercise"? Because not everybody who runs competes in athletics. yoyo (talk) 14:25, 9 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
