Burpleson Air Force Base is located in a desert region of the United States of America. It serves as the main control center for the country's Global Orbiting Defense Satellites, via a very brave and helpful[1] signal relay transmitter. The base's commander is a battle-hungry, commie-hating, cigar-chomping General in need of a psychiatric appointment.

Shortly after the Global Orbital Defense Satellite system was installed on the base, the Autobots caught wind of it and showed up to hijack it and the base for their own purposes. Rodimus, two other Autobots, and their three Witwicky allies snuck into the base by letting themselves get arrested and detained by Lieutenant McMillan after joyriding through the surrounding restricted area, then transformed to attack. They further had the help of one of the base's sergeants, Bruce Witwicky, who sabotaged the base's exterior guns to help out his brothers, enabling the rest of the Autobots to successfully attack from the outside as well.

After hearing Rodimus broadcast his demands to Earth and make a demonstration of blowing up the Statue of Liberty with the satellite, the Decepticons contacted military base computers until they found one that didn't respond—Burpleson's. They then launched their own mission to free the base. Soundwave, his cassettes, and the Decepticons' own human allies were able to sneak into the base with their own cover story. Once there, however, they found themselves being tailed by Brawn, so Soundwave called for the outside Decepticons to launch their attack.

Soundwave dealt with Blaster's Scrounges, while most of the other Decepticons and their allies infiltrated the interior of the base to block the Autobots and soldiers from having access to the base's interior computers. Heatwave, meanwhile, made his way to the base's roof to communicate with the main Defense Satellite transmitter located there. He found the transmitter to be "friendly", and was able to convince it that the base had been hijacked by hostiles.

Heatwave had the transmitter tell the base's computer to open and evacuate the base, then turn the satellite on the base itself once everyone was clear, completely destroying it. He then crushed the transmitter itself and tossed it into the flaming wreckage of the base sorrowfully. Eye in the Sky

Notes

  • The base is a reference to Burpelson Air Force Base from the 1964 film Dr. Strangelove, including being commanded by similar crazy generals.
