2005 IDW continuity

In prehistoric times, the creatures were hunted by Elonians. The First Who Was Named By the time that Elonia had achieved spaceflight, however, the species had been domesticated, and were popular enough to have toys made in their likeness. Shining Armor #1

In 2018, a young Elonian girl and her pet mutt were playing outside, and witnessed the destructive arrival of Unicron over their homeworld. Thanks to the sacrifice of Wheeljack, both of them were teleported to Cybertron with two-thirds of Elonia's biosphere, presumably including other mutts. Our Darkest

When Cybertron itself was attacked and destroyed by Unicron not long afterwards, the Talisman was able to safely teleport most of Iacon's population to Earth, including at least one mutt. Road's End When Unicron was vanquished, the mutt was reunited with its owner and the two ran off to play in a nearby stream. Ceremony

During her childhood on Elonia, Stardrive owned a plush toy depicting a mutt. She was fond enough of the stuffed animal to keep it even after becoming a Space Knight. Shining Armor #1

• The species has never received an official name, though Wheeljack calls one of them a "mutt" in Unicron issue #0, so that's what we're going with.
