Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Relic perk tree Cyberpunk 2077 guide, walkthrough

The new Relic tree helps you develop character V in the Phantom Liberty add-on for Cyberpunk 2077. From this tutorial page, you will learn how to earn Relic perk points and what is the best first Relic perk.

Last update: 25 September 2023

One of the new additions in Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 is a completely new perk tree called Relic. On this page of our guide, we explain when the new tree is unlocked, how to get Relic points needed for buying perks in this tree, and what Perk you should choose as the first one.

How to unlock the new tree?

1 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Relic perk tree - New content - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. With the Phantom Liberty expansion, a new perk tree called Relic has been introduced. You will receive access to it at the early stages of the DLC's storyline. This is how it goes - after initiating the Terra Incognita story mission, you'll meet with Songbird near the entrance to Dogtown.
  2. The encounter leads to unlocking the new tree.

  1. You can view it in Character tab. Once selected, you'll see the tree with various perks, major and minor ones.

How to get Relic points?

3 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Relic perk tree - New content - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. To activate the perks from this new tree, you need Relic points, with the individual perks requiring one or a few points to unlock.
  2. Relic perk points are not awarded for advancing to new experience levels. Which means they work differently that the remaining 5 Perk trees (ones connected to V's attributes).
  3. For a good start, during the meeting with Songbird, you receive as much as 3 Relic points, but this is only an exception. To acquire more points, you're going to need to do some exploring. There are Data Terminals scattered around Dogtown. They pulsate and their icons appear on the minimap (example on screenshot) as you get close to them.

  1. You have to approach such a terminal and interact with it to collect the data. Each such action is rewarded with 1 Relic perk point. Engage in additional exploration of Dogtown, and you'll find more terminals.

Recommneded perks to choose

The 3 points received from Songbird at the beginning of the DLC will allow you to unlock 1 of the 3 starting perks - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Relic perk tree - New content - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide

The 3 points received from Songbird at the beginning of the DLC will allow you to unlock 1 of the 3 starting perks. These are:

  1. Emergency Cloaking - to be able to choose this perk, you first need to have Optical Camo unlocked. Thanks to this branch of the tree, V will have an easier time hiding from enemies, be it to retreat from a difficult fight.
  2. Jailbreak - this branch of the tree improves the function of Arm cyberwares. As the branch unfolds, you can unlock perks like Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Projectile Launch System or Monowire.
  3. Vulnerability Analytics - with this perk, you can detect Vulnerabilities, which are weak points on opponent bodies and cyberware. With further perks in the branch, you can make these Vulnerabilities explode.
5 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Relic perk tree - New content - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. We recommend spending the 3 points received from Songbird on Vulnerability Analytics. This is, in our opinion, best choice at the beginning of the DLC's storyline.
  2. With this branch of perks unlocked, you can mark Vulnerabilities on enemies' armor and cyberware (screenshot). Try to fire at these weak points, as successful hitting will ignore armor and deal critical damage. In addition, a destroyed Vulnerability can explode and release an EMP. Such an EMP may have an area of effect of 3 meters.
