Empty Bodies by Zach Bohannon is the first book in a series of post-apocalyptic zombie thrillers and, although he brings nothing new to the genre, it is an exciting story. We follow a number of people through the turning and the survivors are slowly but surely making their way to each other. Some are together by the end of this book and I suspect the others will probably join them in book number two.
The characters are converging with each other in Tennessee and there are connections that we, the readers know about that have yet to be revealed to the characters. For example hotel clerk, Jessica is travelling with Melissa, who is another character’s mother. Also in case we tire of zombie violence, the author has provided us with a power hungry bad guy who has a score to settle with our group.
I have all six of the books in this series and fully intend on continuing on with the series. I am looking forward to reading more about Jessica, Will and Gabriel in their terrifying journey for survival.… (more)
This book was suspenseful, but it was too quick as before I knew it, the book was finished. Wish it had been just a wee bit longer, but it was still a good read. A man wakes up in a cemetery with screaming all around him and as he tries to make his way home to his daughter, he has to literally run all the way home as there are vampires everywhere. Three stars for this one.
A short and spooky story about a man who wakes up in the night in a mausoleum. As he goes through the graveyard he hears screams and encounters some strange creatures/vampires in the night. He hurries home to get to his young daughter and make sure she is safe…
A quick and frantic read. Extremely short, but fun to read around Halloween.
