What a great way to make Austen approachable to younger audiences!! I think this stays oh so true to the original Persuasion (which admittedly I have read once so it's not the tale I know the best) but it is simpler.

However that does not mean the language has been dumbed down. Far from it. I like how Austen's voice was preserved. Just some of the unnecessary accoutrements were gone.

I need to recommend these to my patrons!

Seriously simple. Basic plot line, basic characters, basic dialogue. But they’re fairly harmless, and my girls devour them; and while they do, I have time to look for books of more value. I’m going to call this a win.

Initially, the book was promising, portraying the difficulties of a child looking after a disabled mother. However, I didn't find the main character's internal monologue believable; she was far too adult for a 12 year old. I also felt the reveal of the girl's back story rather hurried when it could have been more suspenseful.
