Wow! What a great memoir! The fact that it is a graphic novel is perfect, but so is the sense of the man himself. The entire story has the frenetic, optimistic energy I've always associated with Stan Lee. In reading this, it's easy to see why Marvel is enjoying the success it is these days. I have no doubt that there is much more to the man's life story, but that's true of any memoir. The art, is fantastic as well, and Colleen Doran shows off an incredible range of styles. She handles everything from classic Looney Tunes eye-poppers to cosmic backgrounds with equal aplomb. An absolute necessity for any Marvel fan, and it should have a ton of crossover appeal.… (more)
This is a dark retelling of Snow White from the evil stepmother's perspective. It includes graphic violence and a lot of sex and nudity. The graphic novel is relatively short, but the story is gripping from the first page to the last. It has a very grim athmosphere and no "happy ending". I loved especially the beautiful illustrations that fit the story really well and convey a cruel fairy tale.
Very dark. This is an adult book - not for kids, or young teens (IMHO) - despite being an illustrated book/graphic novel.
