I would use this book in my 1st grade classroom as a read aloud before having my students come up with their own invention. I think it would make them realize that even they could invent things like Thomas.
The book is about Thomas A. Edison's life from when he was a child to teenager. The Edison family lived on a farm in Milan Michigan. Tom was the youngest of the three kids. After Tom's family moved, Tom started working on the train from Canada to Fort Gratiot. On the train Tom sold newspapers and magazines. On the train Tom even started his own newspaper about the Civl War. At the end of the book Tom invented the light bulb. I thought the book was good. I liked even though Tom was young he still was very strong to help out where he could.… (more)
This book is filled with stories of Thomas Edison as an inquisitive little boy, and a budding inventor. He's always asking questions and learning new things, and he comes up with a few crazy ideas that get him into a bit of trouble. As a young boy he's already conducting experiments, taking jobs, and dragging his friends along on adventures.
