Plot tied to many complex characters. This was turned into a Netflix series with a slightly different plot and outcome. The characters come alive. Celeste the protagonist is endearing. The ending of the book are slightly different. Together they create an interesting story and an excursion to Nantucket.

Collen (Coco) Coyle has disappeared from a yacht off the coast of Nantucket and a house has burned. Chief Ed Kapenash is to retire in 3 days when the story begins. Since the missing girl was befriended by his daughter Kacy, he wants to solve this last case, his swan song. The story is told alternating chapters in the present and what led up to the current situation earlier in the summer. Coco is a bar tender in the West Indies when Bull and Leslee Richardson come into her bar and spontaneously offer her the job of their personal concierge at their recently purchased home at 888 Pocomo on Nantucket. When she arrives on Nantucket, the house is not yet ready, and she has no place to stay. She is befriended by Kacy Kapenash, daughter of the chief of police, Ed Kapenash, Kacy invites Coco to stay with them until her room at the house is ready and begins showing her around. Kacy has just returned from working as a NICU nurse in California after a professional and a personal disappointment. Once Coco begins working for the Richardson's, she has little time for anything else, as Leslee is very demanding. Coco meets Lamont Oakley, a local man, who is a boat captain, and also works for the Richardson's, captaining and tending to their two boats. The Richardson's go about Nantucket gathering friends and inviting them to their themed parties which are decadent, alcohol fueled, and risqué. Their goal is to become members of a tennis and boating club. However, Leslee manages to alienate many people and there are rumors that Bull has trouble with the SEC and the IRS. This book is meant to be the end of the summer Nantucket beach reads by Elin Hilderbrand.… (more)

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (3.5/5)

Police Chief Ed Kapanesh is finally retiring. He’s looking forward to a quiet end to his career. New owners move into a local mansion and their parties are something that Nantucket has never seen before and are sought out by everyone. So much mystery surrounds this new couple.

Elin Hilderbrand’s last book in her Nantucket saga. I’ve followed this author for years, but have missed a few in recent years. I found the premise interesting, but I feel I missed so much from previous books that I found myself floundering at times. So many Easter eggs, some helped, but if I brushed up on the previous books, I think I would have enjoyed this book more. I can’t say I loved the new characters, and seemed to be disappointed in the previous ones. As always, this author can spin a story and her love for Nantucket shines thru. I look forward to see what EH has up her sleeve next.

This is the first audio that I listened to and really enjoyed it. This is my honest opinion.

Sophia, along with her boyfriend, is set to sail on a rustic cruise to the Galápagos Islands. A last minute emergency leads to a solo trip. What she finds on this cruise, is so much more than she ever expected.

I’m hit or miss with Ms. Hilderbrand’s books. This is a short story, easily read in one sitting. Even though I didn’t find the storyline surprising or held any shocking twists, I enjoyed the characters and the story as a whole. It was empowering to see Sophia find her voice and realize her worth. The setting was a welcome change.

Thanks to NetGalley and Amazon Publishing for this ARC. This is my honest opinion.
