About the Author
Michelle Payne was born on September 29, 1985 and grew up near Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. She attended Loreto College. She began racing at age 15 and won her first race at Ballarat. She was only the third female jockey to ride in the Caulfield Cup. In 2015, she became the first woman to win the show more Melbourne Cup. She, along with John Harms, wrote her autobiography Life as I Know It. In 2016, she won "The Don" award, given for her capacity to inspire the nation. (Bowker Author Biography) show less
