I have something for you if you are a fan of games like Silent Hill 2 and 3, Kuon, or Rule of Rose. The psychological horror game Hollowbody made its release on September 12, drawing inspiration from the mentioned genre classic.

  1. The game is available exclusively on PC.
  2. On both the GOG and Steam platforms, Hollowbody was priced at about $17. Until September 19, the title can be purchased for $15.29.

Hollowbody – some details

Hollowbody takes place in the near future. We take on the role of a character named Mica, who arranges a flight over the exclusion zone where her partner, Sasha, went missing. When our plane crashes in the streets of an abandoned British town, the fight for survival begins. We must find a way to escape, along the way facing all sorts of creatures that seek to take our lives.

Gameplay-wise, Hollowbody doesn't revolutionize the genre. This means that while playing, we explore different locations, gather items, and combat enemies using both firearms and melee weapons (such as boards with protruding nails). The dev also took care to diversify the gameplay by including various environmental puzzles and different endings.

Hollowbody – player opinions and first reviews

Based on proven solutions and the atmosphere of cult titles, Hollowbody was very warmly received by players. Although the horror game currently has only 379 reviews on Steam, 93% of them are positive.

Players mainly commend how the title emulates the legendary horror games from the early 21st century in their comments. Fans are also amazed that a game developed by one person has fewer bugs than AAA titles. Critical opinions are rare. If they happen, they mainly relate to the slightly underdeveloped combat system.

  1. Hollowbody on Steam

Hollowbody fares slightly worse in the opinion of industry reviewers. Metacritic.com aggregated 12 ratings, which resulted in an average score of 74/100. However, it's important to note that there is a significant range, including a "ten" and two "nines," as well as a couple of "sixes" and even a score of 5.5/10.
