There were times that I wished this book slowed down as the story was unfolding as it was just so fast. I wanted there to be more depth. Sensitive subject matters but compelling story.

It is ingeniously written. Gripping and riveting. It will consume you.

This is not a book for the delicate psyche.
There is sexual and mental abuse. There is a lot of violence. At times it can be very hard to read, because the situation Alex finds herself in seems so hopeless.
Gemma James has written this so well, that you feel like it is you in this never ending nightmare.
You can not look away. You can not stop reading.
You physically feel Alexandra's hope for escape ripped away and her sanity along with it. Her desperation is in every word you read.

This author knows how to weave mystery into her stories. There is always something happening in the background or a lingering question that compels me to keep turning the pages in search of an answer.
I look forward to finding out the answers in the next book after a whopper of a cliffhanger.
